WORN TO A FESTIVAL

In my mind festival wear is so often bohemian and flowy shit etc but that doesn't feel right. This outfit is a combination of comfort, necessity and nudity: my slut-free summer mission has been aborted.

I'm wearing DIY shorts made from scuba-esque fabric which is literally to die for, it will appear in many more posts. This is a Nike dri-fit sports bra, I actually picked it up from an outlet but it's amazing. The baseball shirt was from my brothers wardrobe, you can get one on eBay or official shirts like mine here. All worn with some old Nikes.

LA VAGUE

Sometimes I enjoy finding myself entrapped in the beauty of someone else’s something. The past few months it’s been Matisse’s work. Namely ‘La Vague’. Aside from the fact that you can’t help but be mad at him, I mean he made a career by sticking paper… You can’t help but find yourself lost in the meaning behind his work. I just love the serigraph, #ugh.

The main lesson to learn from the most inspiring people of the world is that it’s not enough to have an idea, to feel something, to like something, to want something, execution is key.

You may see me dragging my faux leather tote around like it’s a dog on a leash, but when I say I love this bag, I love it.

Obviously inspired by one of the greatest brands in the world (I’m biased), this tote was the product of a couple hours behind my machine. I always thought, I could make a tote bag but that’s a weightless statement until it’s actually made. The straps need fray block or maybe need to be made thinner and hemmed and I would probably add a few pockets to add to the functionality of this super epic bag (I’m biased).

Following up from my tweet to @andotherstories, here’s what’s in the bag!
This was one piece from the haul of stuff I got from &OtherStories. This particular knit was in the sale but in case you missed my Céline-lustlist-rant, I am in love with these lines and it’s navy blue - #tickingboxes.

My pants were my creation. It’s always a proud mom moment when people ask you where your pants are from at work… I will totally be taking orders for them - it’s only fair seeing as this fabric is epic, the design is epic and you won’t find this style anywhere: trust me, I searched.

Now you too, go forth and create.

BORO SHIPPUDEN

Some days I am thankful for the annoying and frustrating torture experience that was and is listening to my brothers talk about Shippuden something something something Naruto, but in all honesty, manga has inspired so much shit, including my obsession with Japanese culture - fabric, architecture, language etc. Having said that, this dress is the ultimate product of influence.

I found a suitcase of throwback photos and in the midst of my mom's rant on the effort she put into hooking me up with super swag dresses, I was surprised to see a similar blue patchwork to such fabric used in this dress.

Maybe nudity should be thrown to the wheyside this summer and bitches can stay classy in almost floor length clothes? Maybe there can be more Naruto inspired clothing in the public domain? Or maybe not?

I've ranted about these shoes before and you can get them from this ebay seller curse those delivery charges. ASOS also have some cute patchwork shit (here too)and those Faustine Steimetz mohair jeans remain on my eternal #lustlist to be coveted to infinity and beyond.

VOYAGE TO MONACO

Monaco is so beautiful I could cry. The amazing beauty of the natural scenery is reflected in the stupendously amazing spirits, swag and architecture of the city and I literally have no other words to describe the amazingness.

Super in love with the turtleneck crop that I made which balances out being less clothed with wearing turtlenecks (I can live in turtlenecks forever: on my Steve Jobs swag, may his soul fly with angels). Before I begin to share outfit posts, a snapshot of the beauty of Monaco is a necessary evil.

RIBBED WHITE DRESS

Jacket Old Navy similar Bag the Sak similar Dress by me similar

Knit jersey fabric is probably my favourite to sew with and creating this dress made me very happy as I finally was able to make the perfect neckline found here. This is my new love of clinical precision realised in a simple straight cut inspired by buildings more than anything else and as it gets warmer, this raincoat will probably be a life saver.

FEBRUARY

In amongst being consumed by University interviews, portfolio preparation and the production of Short Films and whatever else to complete school, blogging has been the last thing on my list of shit to do. I will continue to share on every platform, namely my Tumblr has become more personal and Wanstead Station is inspiring life. In the meantime I will be indulging in my chocolate birthday cake.

LEVI PATCH

Essentially re-appropriated Levis I picked up from Depford Market a while ago. I ripped holes in 'em and then filled them with some material from my fabric box et voila. Holey jeans without the awkward leg breeze.

AIRMAX1 PHOTOBOOTH

I've revolted against my own logic. Thrifting has not been done for a good few months now and I think I am becoming bored by the retro. The styles of the past are in a swing that is very full. All the minimalism, the logos, the denim, the tartan, screams 90s and it is probably time that we stop 90s-ing everything.

New addition to my shoe closet are my first pair of 'colour trainers'. They are the perfect mix of the most timeless and utile materials - with a leather, suede and PU mix - but are also a cute shape, style and colour. Probably one of the key boasts of Air Max 1s/90s, is the colourways which have been expanded to glow in the dark and to feature the confederate flag: getting these in black could suck the life out of the design concept.

MODERN-DAY LISA SIMPSON

The fabric market has become my haven with yards and yards of material inspiring endless possibilities. On recent trips, tartan, organza (stupidly hard to work with), loads of jersey cotton and leather have been added to my harberdashery. Things that aren't too complex are most enticing, as I get bored easily and don't have the time to sew on 18 buttons. The leather skirt and grocery bag clutch were necessities and the sweater was a 3am creation - although it's unfinished, it's wearable.

TARTAN VEST

I found some 'evil tartan' fabric at the market and decided to make a vest from it, based on a piece I've found indispensable since I purchased it. It was a pretty simple making progress, but a bit fiddly with the straps that I ended up making thicker than I initially intended - and then I wore it to go eat Thai. Thanks for the pictures Kirsty!

BLACK PARIS

The Comptoir des Cotonniers store in Paris, Saint Germain-en-Laye.
My second time in Paris, but my first time as an explorer and I was overjoyed that I was able to make the trip with Abella (my DSLR), so much so that I wish I had an entire film crew with me, and a pre-written script and a plan and I could go out and make a movie in Paris.

Tall far-off-white buildings, street art in the finest nooks and crannies and the constant French murmuring - long live Paris.
